We were formed in 1974 when we received our Charter from Rotary International. Today we are delighted to report that our membership continues to grow and we receive regular applications from prospective new members.

Each month our weekly meetings include two with speakers invited by various members, a ‘Business’ meeting (where club activity is reported upon) and a ‘Fellowship’ meeting where we just chat among ourselves. Whilst there is a designated structure to all this, the emphasis of our club is very much on the informal, with much banter and jocularity - something that is immediately appreciated by visitors, both from other Rotary clubs and the wider world.Nobody is allowed to take themselves too seriously (and no-one tries!).

In addition to our regular meetings we schedule a range of events, both in support of our objectives and to raise funds for our nominated charities (chosen by our President, who holds the post for one year) and other causes, and for the entertainment and enjoyment of members. The latter applies particularly to those months where there is a ‘fifth Wednesday’, when we meet in the evening and partners are invited.
All our activity is overseen and organised by our various committees, whose work is described briefly by their chairs and all our Club members have a place on one of these.

What is Rotary?

Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbours, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who come together to make positive, lasting change in communities at home and abroad.
Clubs meet regularly, allowing members to build firm friendships. Every Rotarian has a right to attend any Club meeting anywhere in the world, so there is always somewhere to go, people to meet, whichever country you are in..

Rotary International recommends that members and participants follow the guidelines set by the World Health Organisation and your national, regional, or local health authorities to protect your health and safety. If authorities recommend it, postpone or cancel in-person meetings, or conduct them online or by phone.

District Governor Frank is advising all Clubs to CANCEL all their physical meetings with immediate effect for at least the next few weeks. However we will continue to hold Zoom meeting until we are safe to do so.

Where we meet

We normally meet every Wednesday lunchtime at 12.30pm for 1.00pm (except for the 5th Wed in any month) at:

            The Cotswold Lodge Hotel

             66a Banbury Road,
             Oxford, OX2 6JP

Sadly we have temporarily suspended our meetings at the hotel, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. However we are hosting virtual meeting via the Zoom app every Wednesday and if you have been invited as a guest, then you will be included in our meeting.
