In May 2011 eleven members of Oxford North, with partners, went on an exchange visit to to the Rotary Club of Simmern Hunsruck in Germany. For three days we stayed in members homes and were treated to excellent food, wine and entertainment. On Saturday we had an all day excursion to Frankfurt. On the return journey we stopped for the official dinner with speeches by both Presidents. A very enjoyable and worthwhile time was had by all.
After the official visit the members of Oxford North extended the holiday with a three day stay in Bad Mergentheim-Markelssheim.
I am indebted for a large number of images to Clubmeister Dr Thorsten Junkerman and to my brother-in-law David.
Arrival in Frankfurt.
'It's not easy being President you know'.
Is that the famous Number 957872 escapee from Spandau?
I've got ten minutes to write a speech!
Woman! You know your place!
Peace! At last.
Listen to me please! I AM your President.
'I come to you as a great international ambassador'.
Help! What is he going to say next?
'That's my Boy!'
'Did I really write all this without Catherine?'
Play your cards right son and we may get away with it
Didn't we do well?
'Terrible wine - but good enough for the English'
'I have heard some drivel in my time'.
'One day soon all this will be mine,'

I can do better than this next year.

And more pork.
'It's the garage calling. They sold a car!'
Has anyone seen my Desert Legion platoon?
'I'm only here for the beer.'
'They think I arranged all this.'
Where can I get a beer rond here?
'I was dying for a cup of tea'.
'What on earth made me join this lot?'
'I will show them how to do it next year'.
'I will get it right next time'.
